One day in my mid-twenties, I was sitting at a traffic light after just moving to the city of Philadelphia and said out loud, “I’m ready for my next spiritual community to come into my life.”

Later that same week, I found myself wandering around Old City in Philadelphia, and walked into a metaphysical store called Indigo. The women working in the store seemed to be radiating light.

I was called to ask her about spiritual communities and she shared that just that morning her friend had decided to start a new meditation group at The Reiki School + Clinic. That same week I went to that morning meditation and my life changed.

After finding my way to that school and the teachers there through the practice of meditation, which I had experience with, I started to explore the practice of Reiki as a Level 1 and then Level 2 student.

Reiki is a holistic approach to hands-on natural healing. A Japanese healing modality, Reiki promotes relaxation, calms emotions, relieves stress and worry, and improves the mind/body connection.

The word Reiki comprises two Japanese characters, “rei” meaning universal or soul and “ki” meaning life force or energy. A Reiki treatment is done with light touch or hovering. We can share Reiki with others and with ourselves.

Reiki has put me on a path of following the signs that put me on a path of service, community and synchronicity. It has helped me extract the parts of me that no longer fit into a bright life. My Reiki practice has helped me become more honest, whole, and joyful.

When life becomes hard, turning towards my Reiki practice helps me grow and thrive. This pathway has taught me that I can do what it takes to heal, to become more gentle, loving, a better communicator, and just a better version of me.

After many years sharing Reiki with clients in my Crystal Resonance Therapy practice and also giving myself daily self-practice Reiki sessions, I’ve embarked on the journey to become a Reiki Master Teacher here in Baltimore where I live now.
